“Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” 1 John 4:10
We often hear sermons and speeches about love for God and love for our fellowman, but our love falls so far short of true love because of our sinfulness and self-centeredness.
God’s Word says, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”
If we want to know true love, look at the love of God for sinners — He gave His only-begotten Son to die for us and pay for our sins, and that while we were yet enemies of God and rebelling against Him (cf. Rom. 5:6-8). Look at the love of Jesus — He willingly took the guilt and punishment of our sins and went to the cross to redeem us. Indeed, “Herein is love”!
Thank You LORD God for so loving me that You gave Your Son to redeem me and make me Your own. Amen.
